The opposition BJP and the ruling Congress in Chhattisgarh are at loggerheads over the names of government schemes. The BJP has contended that the Congress government is taking over Central government schemes and renaming them to claim credit. The Congress has denied the allegations and challenged the BJP to prove its point. The BJP's allegations aren't new. In February 2019, the Congress government renamed five schemes of the former BJP government linked after Jan Sangh leader Pt Deendayal Upadhyay. The BJP had also contended political vindictiveness. The Congress had also justified the move, saying the earlier BJP government in 2004 had renamed schemes that were named after Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi. The BJP has now indicted the Congress government of taking over Central government schemes similar as the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana( PMKVY), the Pradhan Mantri Jan Dhan Yojana( PMJDY), the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana( PMFBY) and the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana( PMUY) and renaming them as state government schemes. The Congress has denied the allegations and challenged the BJP to prove its point. The Congress has listed 51 state government schemes and said that there's no trace of any Central government scheme among them. The BJP has said that it'll review the list of 51 schemes and will take the matter to court if it finds any substantiation of the Congress government taking over Central government schemes. The Assembly pates in Chhattisgarh are due in November this time. The BJP is hoping to wrest power from the Congress. The Congress is confident of retaining power. The allegations andcounter-allegations over the names of government schemes are likely to toast up in the run- up to the Assembly pates
