After lots of discussions and speculations among the top brass of the grand old party, Siddaramaiah to return as Chief Minister of the state of Karnataka while DK Shivakumar will act as his deputy.

As per the sources, the oath ceremony would take place in 20th of May.

For past few days speculations were going on as whom to place in the CM post between the Siddaramaiah and Shivakumar. Ultimately on the meeting held past midnight, Mallikarjun Kharge along with other top leaders decided to place Siddaramaiah in the CM post again.

DK Shivakumar's brother commented that he is not fully contended with the decision of placing Siddaramaiah as the new CM but he is willing to accept it for the interest of the state of Karnataka.

Although it was initially proposed by Rahul Gandhi that the party could follow power sharing formula like placing DK Shivakumar and Siddaramaiah as the CM of Karnataka for 2 -2 years. But Shivakumar rejected the proposal and said that he won't accept anything other than CM post for full term or otherwise is ready to continue as a MLA. Thus this decision was arrived that Siddaramaiah will continue as the CM for the 2nd term and next 5 years.

He also added"In future we will see, there is a long way to go. ...I wish it (CM post for DK Shivakumar) but it didn't happen, we will wait and see."

The Congress party witnessed a big win in Karnataka after the May 10 assembly election, securing 135 seats and emerging as the single largest party, giving the state a decisive mandate. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) won 66 seats, while regional party, the Janata Dal (Secular) managed to get 19 seats.
