Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has accused the BJP-led state government of stopping or delaying several major projects that were initiated during the previous Congress administration, claiming that the current government's functioning is “difficult to understand.”
Speaking to reporters in Jaipur, Gehlot alleged that a number of large infrastructure and public welfare projects launched under his tenure have either been stalled or left incomplete despite being ready for inauguration. He questioned why completed projects were not being opened for public use and suggested that political considerations were hindering development work.
The senior Congress leader also took a swipe at the BJP government’s decision-making process, asking who was effectively running the administration and whether governance decisions were being influenced by party leadership beyond the elected government.
Gehlot’s criticism is part of a broader campaign he has been running against the Rajasthan government. In recent months, he has repeatedly alleged that several institutions and projects established during the Congress regime—including educational, governance, and infrastructure initiatives—have seen delays, reduced activity, or remain unused after the BJP came to power in the state.
According to Gehlot, slowing down such projects not only increases costs but also deprives people of the intended benefits. He argued that these initiatives were created for Rajasthan’s long-term development and should not be viewed through a political lens.
The BJP has rejected similar allegations in the past, maintaining that it is reviewing pending projects and prioritizing development based on feasibility and public needs. Party leaders have also accused the previous Congress government of leaving behind numerous incomplete announcements and projects.
The exchange highlights the continuing political battle between the Congress and BJP in Rajasthan, with both sides accusing each other of obstructing development and mismanaging public resources.
