The Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday just after its resumption.

However, debates in Rajya Sabha are underway after it resumes its proceedings at 12 pm.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar to make a statement in Rajya Sabha at 2 pm on deportation of Indian nationals who were allegedly living illegally in the US.

Earlier today, both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 12 noon after a ruckus erupted over the issue of deportation of over 100 Indian nationals who were allegedly living illegally in the US.

Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla had appealed to the MPs not to have “planned disruptions” to disrupt the House.

“Your matter is with the government. This is a matter of the Ministry of External Affairs. This is a matter of another country. Government has taken cognisance of it. I request you not to have planned disruptions to prevent the smooth functioning of the House. Question Hour is the time where members put forth the problems of the citizens and government answers it,” the Lok Sabha Speaker said.

Both Houses were discussing the Union Budget 2025-2026 which was presented by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday. The discussion began at 11 am but was adjourned soon after the ruckus.

Congress MPs Manickram Tagore, Gaurav Gogoi and KC Venugopal had given adjournment notices to discuss the deportation of over 100 Indian nationals by the US government.

The matter pertains to the deportation of over 100 Indian nationals. A US Air Force plane carrying Indian citizens who allegedly illegally migrated to the US landed in Amritsar yesterday.

The current Budget session has seen disruptions, with heavy opposition to Rahul Gandhi’s speech on Monday on the Motion of Thanks to the President’s address. Opposition also demanded discussion on Mahakumbh stampede tragedy.

The Budget session of the Parliament began on January 31, with President Droupadi Murmu’s address.

First part of the session will end on February 13. Session will reconvene on March 10 and end on April 4.
