Maharashtra Political Crisis: Uday Samant likely to join Shinde-led rebel group in Assam

Amid the steaming political tension in Maharashtra, Uday Samant, the state’s minister of higher education and technical education is expected to untie his association with Uddhav Thackeray and will join Eknath Shinde-led rebel group in Assam. If Uday joins Shinde, he will be the 8th minister from Uddhav’s cabinet to revolt against the CM.


Also, amid the rising friction, Shiv Sainiks ravaged the offices of rebel MLAs in Maharashtra. Scores of hoardings of those MLAs were also defaced by enraged Shiv Sainiks.  


The colors of political grapple deepened when the Eknath-led rebel group named itself ‘Shiv Sena Balasaheb’. Meanwhile, the Centre has provided the 15 rebel MLAs with Y+ security. 


Also, on Sunday, Assam ministers Ashok Singhal and Pijush Hazarika paid a visit to the hotel where rebel Shiv Sena leaders including Eknath Shinde are staying and as per the sources, held an hours-long discussion with them. This was the third visit of the Singhal to the dissident leaders in two days.
