A large political rally in Barrackpore turned into a high-energy campaign event as the Prime Minister addressed a huge gathering before leading a roadshow through key areas of the region. The atmosphere remained charged throughout the programme, with supporters lining the streets, waving party flags and chanting slogans.
During his address, the Prime Minister expressed strong confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would secure a decisive victory in the ongoing electoral battle in the state. He claimed that the mood of the people clearly reflected a desire for change and asserted that the party was heading towards forming the next government.
“The support we are witnessing here is only a glimpse of what is happening across the state. People have made up their minds for change,” he said, adding that development, governance, and stability would be the key focus of the BJP if voted to power.
Following the rally, a roadshow was held through several densely populated stretches of Barrackpore, where the Prime Minister greeted supporters and party workers. Security was tightened across the route, and local administration deployed additional personnel to manage crowd movement.
The Prime Minister further stated that he was confident of returning to the state for the oath-taking ceremony on 4 May, indicating his belief that the party would secure enough seats to form the government. The remark drew loud cheers from supporters present at the event.
He also reiterated his party’s promises on infrastructure development, employment generation, and improved law and order, criticising the current administration for what he described as governance failures and lack of accountability.
Meanwhile, opposition parties responded sharply to the rally, accusing the BJP of making “premature claims” and attempting to influence voters with campaign rhetoric. They maintained that the final decision would rest with the people and pointed to their own organisational strength on the ground.
Political observers noted that the Barrackpore event added further intensity to an already heated campaign environment in the state, with both ruling and opposition parties stepping up public outreach and aggressive messaging ahead of voting.
With campaigning gaining momentum, rallies, roadshows, and mass addresses are expected to continue across districts, making the coming days crucial in shaping voter sentiment.
