Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati strongly criticized the Samajwadi Party (SP) on Thursday, accusing it of creating tension and violence by using Dalits for political purposes.
In a series of posts on social media platform X, Mayawati wrote, “Like other parties, SP is also creating trouble by putting forward people from their party, especially Dalits. Their statements, fights, and events show they are only thinking about themselves.”
She also attacked SP’s recent efforts to gain Dalit support, saying, “SP can do anything to get Dalit votes. So, Dalits, backward classes, and Muslims should be careful and not fall for their tricks.”
Mayawati added, “Instead of talking badly about the past, Dalits working with such parties should focus on the great leaders, saints, and teachers of their community who helped them move forward.”
This comes after SP Dalit MP Ramji Lal Suman caused a stir by calling Rana Sanga, a respected 16th-century Rajput king, a “traitor” for allegedly inviting Babur to defeat Ibrahim Lodi. His statement was heavily criticized, and many people demanded an apology.
Rana Sanga, also known as Sangram Singh I, ruled Mewar from 1508 to 1528 and is known for his bravery.
On March 26, violence broke out outside MP Ramji Lal Suman’s house in Agra when unknown people threw stones and damaged vehicles.
Suman has since repeated that he already explained his views many times and doesn’t understand why people are still angry. “I’ve said what I wanted to say 100 times. I don’t know why people are still making an issue,” he said
