Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and DMK president M K Stalin has expressed strong confidence that his party-led alliance will win more than 200 seats in the upcoming state Assembly elections. He made the remarks while continuing his unique “morning walk campaign” as part of an intensified grassroots outreach ahead of the polls.
According to reports from campaign events and recent public interactions, Stalin said the DMK’s performance in governance, welfare schemes, and development initiatives has created a strong wave of support among voters. He added that the ruling alliance is confident of securing a “massive mandate” in the upcoming elections.
As part of his campaign strategy, the Chief Minister has been engaging directly with residents during early morning walks in Chennai and other parts of Tamil Nadu. During these interactions, he is seen speaking informally with citizens, listening to their concerns, and appealing for support for DMK candidates. Party leaders describe this approach as a symbolic “people-first campaign” aimed at strengthening voter connect at the ground level.
Stalin reiterated that the DMK-led alliance has strong organisational backing and public acceptance due to welfare schemes such as social security initiatives, infrastructure development, and employment-focused policies. He also claimed that opposition parties are struggling to present a strong alternative narrative ahead of the polls.
In recent speeches, Stalin has repeatedly projected confidence of winning over 200 seats in the 234-member Tamil Nadu Assembly, a target he has referred to in multiple campaign events and party meetings over the past months.
Political observers note that the “morning walk campaign” has become a distinctive feature of Stalin’s election outreach, blending symbolic simplicity with direct voter engagement. It is seen as part of DMK’s broader strategy to reinforce its connection with urban voters while consolidating rural support through party cadre networks.
Meanwhile, opposition parties have dismissed the DMK’s claims of a landslide victory, stating that the electoral contest will be closely fought and that voter sentiment will ultimately decide the outcome.
With campaigning intensifying across Tamil Nadu, the political atmosphere is becoming increasingly competitive, setting the stage for a crucial electoral battle in the state.
