Mulayam Singh Yadav’s condition remains critical after being admitted for 5 days. The Samajwadi party supremo complained about breathlessness on October 2nd and has been in the ICU since then. Dr Sanjeev Gupta, medical director of Medanta issued a health bulletin on Monday confirming that Mulayam has been shifted to the critical care unit (CCU). More information about his recovery is yet awaited.

The party was set to celebrate its foundation day in Lucknow on October 4th. All preparations were put on hold indefinitely owing to Mulayam’s health condition. This was the first time that the party’s founding day was not observed since its founding in 1992. Since August 22, Mulayam Singh Yadav has been receiving treatment for routine medical checks and screenings. His condition abruptly deteriorated on Sunday, and he was then sent to the ICU at Medanta Hospital. Senior politicians have also called up Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, inquiring about Mulayam Singh’s health condition. Prime minister Narendra Modi spoke to Akhilesh and wished him a speedy recovery. RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav and Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar were seen visiting him in the hospital. Earlier Bihar CM Nitish Kumar also spoke to Akhilesh Yadav enquiring about the health of his father.

Workers for the Samajwadi Party organised special prayers for the party founder's long life on Monday at many temples around the state.
