The Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Thursday amid a stalemate over the opposition's demand for a discussion on the Manipur violence under Rule 167. The opposition insisted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi attend the Rajya Sabha debate on the Manipur violence.

Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge urged the chair to allow the discussion under Rule 167 and sought PM Modi's presence. However, ruling members objected to this, prompting Kharge to lash out at them.

"What will happen if PM Modi comes, is he God? He is not God," he said.

The Rajya Sabha Chairman was unable to break the deadlock between the opposition and treasury benches, so he adjourned the House until 2 pm.The opposition and treasury benches members accused each other of being responsible for the logjam in the House, with both sides refusing to budge from their positions.

The Chairman pointed out that the opposition and treasury benches had taken a rigid stand on the issue and asked if there was any way to find a compromise. He tried to find the opinions of the Leader of the Opposition Mallikarjun Kharge and the Leader of the House Piyush Goyal.

The Rajya Sabha has been deadlocked over the opposition's demand for a discussion on the Manipur violence under Rule 167, which allows for a debate on a matter of urgent public importance, with the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The government has said that it is willing to hold a detailed discussion on the issue under Rule 176, which allows for a debate on a matter of general public importance.

The stalemate in the Rajya Sabha is likely to continue on Friday as well, as the opposition is not willing to budge from its demand for a discussion under Rule 167 and the presence of PM Modi.
