PM Modi Launches Bihar Election Campaign, Meets Karpoori Thakur’s Family

Prime Minister Narendra Modi kicked off his Bihar Assembly Election 2025 campaign with a visit to Karpoorigram in Samastipur, the birthplace of social justice leader Karpoori Thakur. During his visit, Modi met Thakur’s family and paid floral tributes before heading to a large public rally at the Samastipur airport ground. This marks his first major campaign event in Bihar since the election dates were announced.

Earlier this month, Modi had inaugurated the Karpoori Thakur Skill University virtually, highlighting the enduring legacy of the late leader. The Prime Minister’s visit comes amid a highly competitive electoral battle between the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) and the opposition Mahagathbandhan, which recently announced RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate.

The Mahagathbandhan plans to release its manifesto on October 28, focusing on government jobs for every family, increased reservation limits, financial support for women under the Mai-Bahin scheme, and permanent positions for community coordinators. VIP leader Mukesh Sahani, named the alliance’s deputy CM candidate, will campaign alongside Tejashwi in several constituencies.

In response, NDA leaders, including Chirag Paswan, criticized the opposition for prioritizing personal ambitions over public welfare. Tejashwi Yadav emphasized local governance and warned against outsiders running Bihar, intensifying the campaign rhetoric.

Modi’s schedule includes three rallies, with the first two in Samastipur and the final one in Begusarai. The Prime Minister asserted that the NDA is well-positioned for a strong electoral showing, reflecting the enthusiasm of Bihar’s electorate. The final phase of campaigning is expected to be intense, with both alliances seeking to consolidate support ahead of the polls.

The Bihar elections 2025 are shaping up as a high-stakes contest, with issues of governance, social justice, and development at the forefront, making this one of the most closely watched state elections in recent years.
