West Bengal: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday intensified his election campaign in West Bengal with sharp attacks on the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), accusing it of fostering violence, corruption, and misgovernance, and promising strict action against “aggressors” if the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) comes to power.
Addressing multiple rallies across poll-bound districts, PM Modi said that the people of West Bengal are seeking change and alleged that the TMC government has allowed an atmosphere of fear and political violence in the state. He claimed that development has been “blocked” and governance has been weakened under the current administration.
The Prime Minister asserted that a BJP government would ensure law and order, transparency, and accountability. He further said that those responsible for violence and wrongdoing in the state would face strict legal action. “No one involved in wrongdoing or aggression will be spared,” he reportedly indicated while speaking at a rally, as part of his broader campaign pitch on security and governance.
Modi also targeted the TMC over issues such as corruption allegations, unemployment, and welfare delivery, stating that the state needs a “double-engine government” for faster development in coordination with the Centre. He urged voters to support the BJP, claiming that public sentiment is shifting in favour of change.
His remarks come amid an increasingly heated political atmosphere in West Bengal, where campaigning has intensified ahead of the Assembly elections. The BJP has been focusing its campaign on themes of law and order, migration, and governance, while the TMC has been defending its record and accusing the BJP of attempting to polarise voters.
Recent rallies have seen leaders from both sides exchange sharp political criticism, with allegations and counter-allegations becoming central to the campaign narrative.
PM Modi also highlighted development promises, including job creation, better infrastructure, and improved welfare delivery, stating that his party’s governance model would prioritise both growth and security.
With the election season heating up, West Bengal is witnessing high-decibel campaigning from all major political parties, setting the stage for a closely watched electoral battle in the coming months.
