RAHUL GANDHI TO BE SEEN IN NEW AVATAR AFTER BHARAT JODO YATRA

Digvijaya Singh, senior party leader, stated on Sunday that Rahul Gandhi has evolved into a symbol of "Bharat jodo" (unite India) and will take on a new avatar after the Congress' pan-India march.

In an interview with PTI, Singh, who has been a part of the Bharat Jodo Yatra since it began in Kanyakumari, said that the march has undoubtedly had a positive effect on the Congress because it is the first time in many years that the grand old party is being discussed in remote areas and villages, and people are very impressed that Rahul Gandhi is walking the full route.

He noted that the Congress at the moment lacks the commitment to ideology and leadership, but added that the yatra will help the party be stronger.

The yatra, which started in Kanyakumari and will end in Jammu and Kashmir, is being led by Rahul Gandhi. During the march, a number of Congress leaders will walk 3,500 kilometers.

“In this country, if anyone does ‘tyag’ (sacrifice), he is always revered. Sonia Gandhi did ‘tyag’ of the prime minister’s post. And here, Rahul Gandhi is walking, sweating in the heat, standing in the rain, fighting all kinds of fake news and defamation. He has become a symbol of Bharat jodo,” the former Madhya Pradesh chief minister said.

When asked how Rahul had benefited from the Yatra, Singh responded, "Well, you shall see him now in his new avatar." He claimed that because he has known Rahul for a long time, nothing can stop him from accomplishing his goals once he makes a decision to do so.

“The day he decides, no one will be able to stop him,” he said on Rahul’s political journey forward.

“Frankly, I have always seen him as a very highly committed and ideologically committed person with a highly inquisitive mind. He would not let you go until he has his answers. And, he is a prolific leader and very spiritual too,” the veteran Congress leader said.

Singh, who withdrew from the race for the position of Congress president and was Mallikarjun Kharge's proposer, stated that the Congress organisation is "extremely poor" in comparison to the BJP organisation, which is a cadre-based party.

The Congress is a part of a larger movement, and previous movements have produced new leaders.

He added that individuals who are participating in the march have left their homes and are demonstrating their commitment, saying, "Obviously, new leadership will emerge from the party."

On October 17, candidates will run for the position of Congress president, and the results will be declared on October 19.

The Congress veteran also talked extensively on the party's flaws and efforts to fix them.
