The newly constructed Parliament which is never out of censure from the oppositions will be inaugurated by PM Modi on May 28. This day will going to be a big day in history of India.

The revamped structure has been a point of tug of war of the political parties.

Congress party condemned the revamped parliament building and called it useless as soon as the official inauguration date was declared. They also told that the parliament building is of no use as opposition's microphones are switched off during the session and this is not merely just a common building but a weapon of the voiceless in democracy.

AICC general secretary, communications Jairam Ramesh shared a picture of the prime minister inspecting the ongoing work in the new Parliament building and said, "The sole architect, designer and worker for the new Parliament building, which he will inaugurate on May 28th. The picture tells it all - personal vanity project."

Congress MP and party whip in Lok Sabha Manickam Tagore tweeted, "Parliament buildings are not only of brick and cement, it's voice of the voiceless people."

Central Public Works department has carried out the work of renovation where they constructed a common central secretariat, a new office and residence of the prime minister, and a new vice-president enclave. In addition to that they also revamped three km road from Rashtrapati Bhavan to India Gate .

The present Parliament building was completed in 1927, and is now 96 years old. Over the years, the old building was found to be inadequate for present day requirements.

Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha had passed resolutions urging the Government to construct a new building for Parliament.

The new building can accomodate upto 1280 seats which was needed during joint sessions.
