The Shiv-Sena-led government in Maharashtra might be in jeopardy as the party’s dissident Eknath Shinde on Wednesday morning claimed that he has secured the support of 46 MLAs against the Uddhav Thackeray government.

In order to bifurcate from the party devoid of disqualification under the anti-defection law, Shinde needs the support of 37 MLAs, a two-thirds majority of the party.

To dislodge Thackeray from the power, apart from its 106 MLAs, BJP requires 37 extra MLAs to win a vote of confidence. Shinde asserts that there are enough MLAs with him to make the coup fruition.

However, Shinde on Tuesday took to Twitter to claim that he will always be a staunch follower of Bal Thackeray and will never compromise with his ideologies to grab political gains.
