AIMIM chief and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi did not hold back at all when questioned by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat on the increasing population of the country. In a reply to Mohan Bhagwat’s Dusshera speech, Owaisi said “Please don't take tension. The Muslim population is on the decline. The gap between two children is called spacing. Do you know who is maintaining that the most? The Muslims”. He continued to further address “Who is using condoms the most? We are doing. But Mohan Bhagwat won't speak on this. I am giving facts. The population is not increasing, Mohan Bhagwat Saab. Please stick to data while sticking,"
Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan immediately responded to Mohan Bhagwat's remarks on population control, claiming that they were intended to inflame sectarian division. He called for a need of a firm stand against vicious communal bigotry.
After Mohan Bhagwat, the ideological leader of the RSS and the BJP stated that India needed a population reduction programme that was "equally applicable to all," he made his comments. He also mentioned "forced conversions" and "religion-based imbalance" in the population in his statements at the RSS's annual Dussehra gathering.
According to Mr Owaisi, the Total Fertility Rate (TFR) of Muslims has decreased the most, according to the National Family Health Survey - 5.
