A committe is set up by Mr Sharad Pawar to decide who will be NCP president after he announced to step down from the post. Now a meeting will be held at party office at 11 am in South Mumbai.
Though party cadres insisted Pawar to reconsider his decision, it is of highly probability that he would continue with his decision to step down from the post.On Thursday NCP president Jayanta Patil said Pawar should not quit the post of party supremo till Loksabha Elections as it is the high time to fight against BJP.Pawar's daughter and MP Supriya Sule is the frontrunner for the top post.
The committee which Pawar formed consists of Praful Patel, Ajit Pawar, Jayant Patil, Supriya Sule, Sunil Tatkare, K K Sharma, P C Chacko, Chhagan Bhujbal, Dilip Walse Patil, Anil Deshmukh, Rajesh Tope, Jitendra Awhad, Hasan Mushrif, Dhananjay Munde and Fauzia Khan.
The method by which President will be chosen is still unknown to the party leaders.Though it is highly probable that a senior NCP leader will propose the name of the president and another will second it. The president's name will be ratified at the national-level convention of the NCP, whenever it takes place.
