Moscow: Russian President Vladimir Putin has described relations between India and Russia as being built on "trust-based and brotherly ties," reaffirming the long-standing strategic partnership between the two countries.

Speaking during a recent interaction, Putin said the relationship between India and Russia has stood the test of time and continues to develop across multiple sectors, including trade, energy, defense, science, technology, and people-to-people exchanges. He emphasized that mutual trust and respect remain the foundation of bilateral cooperation.

The Russian President noted that Moscow and New Delhi have maintained close relations despite changing global circumstances. He praised the consistent dialogue between the leadership of both countries and expressed confidence that cooperation would continue to expand in the years ahead.

Putin also highlighted growing economic engagement between the two nations. Bilateral trade has witnessed significant growth in recent years, driven by energy cooperation, investments, and increasing business partnerships. Both countries have been working to diversify trade and strengthen connectivity to unlock new opportunities for economic development.

India and Russia share a long history of cooperation in strategic sectors. Defense remains one of the key pillars of the partnership, while collaboration in nuclear energy, space research, and advanced technologies has also continued to deepen. The two countries regularly engage through high-level meetings, bilateral forums, and multilateral platforms.

The Russian leader further stressed the importance of maintaining a multipolar world order and strengthening cooperation among emerging economies. He reiterated Russia's support for closer engagement with India on regional and global issues of mutual interest.

Putin's remarks come at a time when both countries are seeking to further strengthen economic and strategic cooperation amid evolving geopolitical challenges. Officials from both sides have repeatedly stated that the India-Russia partnership remains a key component of their foreign policy priorities.

The statement is being seen as another indication of the enduring nature of India-Russia relations, which have remained strong for decades and continue to play an important role in regional and global affairs.
