ChatGPT went down today, and millions of users lost access to the AI. Many are flooding X with posts saying that ChatGPT is not working for them.
As noted from the tweets, this appears to be an international problem by the reports indicated from various countries. Thousands, according to reports by Downdetector are affected.
The numbers on the website spiked early this morning and have been rising since then.
Some users can’t log in, while others are saying the AI is not responding to commands at all.
The heat map on Dowedetector confirms that this is a user-reported outage. So far 90% of users are reporting issues with the app and others with the website. OpenAI hasn’t said anything about the cause or extent of the outage yet.
Meanwhile, users are flooding X with posts and memes. One user joked, "Today I lost access to ChatGPT for 20 minutes and it felt like it was 2015 and Google Search went down for a couple of hours"
Another user added "Everyone coming to X to confirm chatgpt down"
"ChatGPT down again ??! not surprised !!!" a user said.
Another X user chimed in "Chatgpt is always down in the middle of my assignment".
"Watching everyone freak out when Chatgpt is down and they have to use their brains we truly r doomed" another user added.
ChatGPT is still down as of this writing. This isn’t the first time ChatGPT has gone down.
On January 23, the AI chatbot experienced a similar global outage and users couldn’t access it on web and app.
During that outage, Downdetector recorded over a thousand complaints and many users posted on X about the issue.
