The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has confirmed that the soft landing of its Chandrayaan-3 lunar mission is still on schedule for today, August 23, 2023, at 6:04 PM IST.

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is India's third lunar mission and a follow-up to the Chandrayaan-2 mission, which failed to land its lander on the Moon in 2019. The Chandrayaan-3 mission will attempt to land its lander, Vikram, on the Moon's south pole. No country has ever set foot on the Moon's south pole.

The soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 is a challenging task, as the Moon's surface is very uneven. However, ISRO has said that it is confident in the success of the mission.

If successful, the soft landing of Chandrayaan-3 will be a major milestone for India's space program. India will become the fourth nation to successfully land a spacecraft on the Moon. The mission will also help scientists to learn more about the Moon's south pole, which is a region of the Moon that is rich in water ice.

ISRO Chief S. Somanath said that the team is "fully prepared" for the soft landing. "We have done all the necessary checks and rehearsals," he said. "We are confident of the success of the mission."

The Chandrayaan-3 mission is being closely watched by scientists and space enthusiasts around the world. The success of the mission would be a major boost for India's space program and would help to further its reputation as a leading spacefaring nation.

ISRO will be providing live updates on the status of the mission on its website and social media channels.
