Spain produced a dominant performance to defeat Saudi Arabia 4-0 in their FIFA World Cup 2026 Group H clash, with teenage sensation Lamine Yamal opening the scoring before captain Mikel Oyarzabal struck twice to seal a comfortable victory. The win strengthened Spain’s position in the group and moved them closer to securing a place in the knockout stage.
Yamal gave Spain the perfect start with an early goal, becoming the eighth-youngest goalscorer in FIFA World Cup history. The 18-year-old winger once again showcased why he is regarded as one of world football’s brightest talents, combining pace, skill and composure to trouble the Saudi defence throughout the match.
Spain controlled possession from the opening whistle and created numerous chances. Oyarzabal doubled the lead before the break and added another in the second half, taking his tally to three goals in the tournament. The Spaniards continued to dominate proceedings, with their midfield dictating the tempo and preventing Saudi Arabia from building any meaningful attacks.
A late fourth goal completed the rout, capping off one of Spain’s most impressive performances of the tournament so far. Saudi Arabia struggled to cope with Spain’s high pressing and quick passing, managing very few attempts on target during the contest.
The result leaves Spain in a strong position in Group H ahead of their final group-stage match against Uruguay, while Saudi Arabia now face a difficult task to keep their hopes of reaching the Round of 32 alive.
For Spain, however, the biggest talking point was once again Yamal. By adding his name to the World Cup record books at such a young age, the Barcelona starlet continues to enhance his reputation on the global stage and is emerging as one of the standout players of FIFA World Cup 2026.
