Indian cricket's teenage sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has once again grabbed the spotlight after smashing the fastest fifty in List A cricket history during the Tri-Nation Series final between India A and Sri Lanka A in Dambulla on Sunday. At just 15 years old, the young batter produced an innings that left cricket fans and experts stunned.
Opening the batting for India A, Sooryavanshi came out with an aggressive mindset from the very first ball. He attacked the Sri Lankan bowlers all around the ground and raced to his half-century in only 11 balls, breaking a record that had stood for more than two decades. The previous record was a 12-ball fifty by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne, set in 2005.
The left-hander did not stop after reaching the milestone. He continued his breathtaking assault and eventually scored 94 runs from just 29 balls. His innings included 10 fours and 8 sixes, and he batted at an incredible strike rate of 324.14. Although he missed out on a century by just six runs, his knock completely changed the course of the match and gave India A a dream start.
Thanks largely to Sooryavanshi's explosive innings, India A piled up a massive total of 377 for 9 in their 50 overs. His partnership at the top put Sri Lanka A under pressure early and allowed the middle order to build on the momentum.
This latest achievement is another chapter in what has already been an extraordinary year for the youngster. Earlier in 2026, Sooryavanshi made headlines in the IPL with several record-breaking performances and became the fastest player to reach 1,000 T20 runs by balls faced. He has also earned a reputation for scoring at unbelievable strike rates and playing fearless cricket despite his young age.
Cricket fans across social media celebrated the innings, with many calling him one of the brightest talents in world cricket. While he narrowly missed a century, the 11-ball fifty will be remembered as a historic moment in the game. For now, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi continues to prove that age is just a number when it comes to talent, confidence and fearless batting.
