Vinicius Jr has joined a rare list of Brazilian greats after scoring in Brazil’s first three matches of the FIFA World Cup 2026.
The Real Madrid forward struck twice in Brazil’s 3-0 win over Scotland, taking his tournament tally to four goals. Earlier, he had scored against Morocco and Haiti. With this run, Vinicius became only the fifth Brazilian to score in the nation’s first three World Cup matches, joining Jairzinho, Romario, Ronaldo and Rivaldo.
Brazil’s win over Scotland also confirmed their place in the knockout stage as Group C winners. Vinicius opened the scoring in the 7th minute and added another before half-time, while Matheus Cunha scored the third goal after the break.
His performance has pushed him firmly into the Golden Boot race and strengthened his status as Brazil’s main attacking force. Neymar also returned during the match, but the night belonged to Vinicius, whose pace, finishing and confidence gave Brazil another statement victory.
