CHINA AND PAKISTAN SLAMMED FOR THEIR MOVE TO BLOCK GLOBAL UN TERRORIST ORGANISATION DESIGNATION

India has once more denounced Pakistan and China for opposing its proposal to add terrorist organisations to the UN's list of designated foreign terrorist organisations. Thursday's UNSC briefing in New York featured Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra saying that the international community should collectively criticize those who shelter terrorists and stand with them, including under the UNSC sanctions regime. The Foreign Secretary further explained the current situation by stating that paradigm shifts have occurred in the nature of conflicts and that they have grown more complex and uncertain.

"Today both the political and security environment and the nature of conflicts have undergone paradigm shifts." During a debate on "integrating effective resilience building in peace operations for sustainable peace," Kwatra observed, "It has become more complex, uncertain, volatile, and unambiguous ". He stated during the briefing that New Delhi firmly recognises the privacy of national governments and authorities in setting priorities, formulating policies, and directing activities for maintaining peace. Additionally, he emphasised India's significant support to the peacekeeping missions and noted that a comprehensive strategy is urgently needed.

"Missions are often burdened with objects that go beyond the traditional mandate of peacekeeping...need of the hour is a holistic approach. Indian peacekeepers, nearly 5800 personnel are deployed in 9 out of 12 active UN peacekeeping missions. We have also been active members of the peacebuilding commission," the Foreign Secretary added. In the meantime, Kwatra stated that India, as the largest democracy in the world, thinks that inclusive and representative governance systems will help stabilise the peace and protect fundamental rights.

It is noteworthy that during the most recent briefing, India provided a thorough account of Pakistan's involvement in the 26/11 terrorist attack in Mumbai. It played a terrorist from Pakistan named Sajid Mir's audio clip. He may be heard ordering the attack on Chabad House during the Mumbai 26/11 terror attacks in the audio tape. India produced unfalsifiable proof against Pakistan by playing the audio recording. At a meeting of the UNSC's Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) held at Taj Mahal Palace, senior Intelligence Bureau officer Pankaj Thakur played the film.
