DEFENCE MINISTER RAJNATH SINGH SAYS PAKISTAN WILL HAVE TO FACE CONSEQUENCES FOR ATROCITIES AGAINST PEOPLE OF POK

On Thursday, Rajnath Singh, the defence minister, said Pakistan, which pours crocodile tears in the name of human rights, is torturing citizens in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and the nation will be held accountable.

Addressing the 76th Infantry Day programme here, the Defence Minister said, "On this occasion, I bow my head to all the brave hearts of India who have given their all to preserve the unity and integrity of this country. "This Shaurya Diwas inspires us to take a resolution that no matter what the situation may be in the future, no matter how many divisive forces come before us, we should take our nation to new heights by answering them in their own language," said the Defence Minister.

Everyone is aware of Pakistan's concern for the people of PoK, he claimed, which pours crocodile tears in the name of human rights.

"I want to know how many rights Pakistan has granted to the residents of the territories it has illegally seized. Everyone is aware of Pakistan's deep concern for the residents of these regions and its willingness to cry crocodile tears in the name of human rights. Pakistan bears full responsibility for all acts of cruelty. Pakistan, which is currently sowing the seeds of atrocities in PoK, will have to deal with difficulties in the future, Singh remarked.

He claimed that when the 1947 refugees find justice and receive their ancestral lands back with respect, the journey will be complete.

"I am convinced of the strength of the people here and our armies. The day is not far when all these mandates will be successfully fulfilled," he said.

The defence minister also criticised "so-called intellectuals" for promoting "terrorists' human rights" in the area.

Some so-called intellectuals of the country have found a violation of terrorists' human rights in those actions whenever any action has been taken on terrorists and their allies by the army or state security services in this area, he said.

Where does the concern for human rights go, Rajnath wonders, when our forces are attacked, security forces are attacked, or the general public is attacked by the same terrorists and they are dealt ruthlessly.

Rajnath stressed that terrorism has no regard for religion and claimed that countless people have died and countless homes have been destroyed in the name of Kashmiriyat.

"The 'tandav' of terrorism which this state witnessed in the name of Kashmiriyat cannot be described. Countless lives were lost, and countless houses were destroyed. There is no account of how much blood was shed in the name of religion. Many people have tried to link terrorism with religion. But are the victims of terrorism confined to any one religion? Does a terrorist act after seeing whether there is a Hindu or a Muslim in front? Terrorists only know how to execute their plans by targeting India," said the Defence Minister.

He declared that India is determined to carrying out the resolution passed by the Parliament on the recovery of the portions of Kashmir that Pakistan has illegally occupied, including Gilgit and Baltistan.

"Now we have just started walking towards north. Our journey will be completed only when we implement the resolution passed unanimously in the Indian Parliament on February 22, 1994, and accordingly, we will reach our remaining parts, such as Gilgit and Baltistan," he said.

The region of Kashmir and Ladakh, according to the defence minister, is developing considerably more quickly than other areas.

One after another, our state is reaching new developmental peaks. However, I would like to point out that this region is still under development, he added.

He added that Jammu and Kashmir is moving toward success, peace, and prosperity as a result of Article 370 being repealed.

Singh attended the "Shaurya Diwas" event that the Indian Army hosted at Budgam on the 76th Infantry Day.

Manoj Sinha, the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, attended the event as well. On this day, Singh also went to an exhibition by the Indian Army.

Every year on October 27, Infantry Day is observed to honour the contributions of the Infantry, the Indian Army's largest fighting force.

The Indian Army's infantrymen were the first soldiers to land at Srinagar Airport on this day in 1947, turning back invaders from the city's outskirts and sparing Jammu and Kashmir from a tribal assault supported by Pakistan. This day holds special significance for the nation.

A "Wreath Laying" ceremony was held today at the National War Memorial as part of the Infantry Day celebrations of 2022 to honour the infantry soldiers who gave their lives in the line of duty for the country.
