Delhi, June 22, 2023: The national capital experienced a pleasant morning today as light showers brought down the temperature to a comfortable 28°C, providing respite to Delhiites from the scorching heat that has been gripping the city for the past few days.

After days of sweltering temperatures and high humidity, the rain came as a welcome surprise for the residents of Delhi. Early risers were greeted with a cool breeze and the sound of raindrops gently falling on rooftops and leaves, marking a refreshing change from the oppressive heatwave that had prevailed.

The Met Department had predicted scattered showers for the city, and the weather conditions lived up to expectations. The light rain started around 5 a.m. and continued intermittently throughout the morning. While the rainfall was not heavy, it was enough to bring down the temperature and create a pleasant ambiance across the city.

Several areas in Delhi witnessed light to moderate showers, accompanied by thunderstorms in some parts. The rain-soaked streets and trees presented a picturesque sight, with people seen enjoying the weather by taking leisurely walks and sipping hot beverages at local tea stalls.

The rainfall has also provided relief to the agriculture sector, as the city had been facing a water shortage due to the prolonged dry spell. Farmers and agricultural experts are optimistic that the showers will aid in improving crop conditions and replenishing groundwater levels.

With the drop in temperature, Delhiites took advantage of the pleasant weather to engage in outdoor activities that were otherwise hampered by the scorching heat. Parks and gardens saw an influx of visitors, families enjoyed picnics, and children were seen playing outdoor games.

However, the sudden change in weather did cause some inconvenience for commuters. Traffic congestion was reported on several major roads due to waterlogging and reduced visibility. The Delhi Traffic Police issued advisories urging motorists to drive with caution and maintain safe distances to avoid accidents.

The weather department has forecasted partly cloudy skies for the rest of the day, with the possibility of occasional showers. The maximum temperature is expected to hover around 34°C, providing relief from the extreme heat but maintaining a relatively comfortable climate.

As the city continues to enjoy the respite from the scorching temperatures, authorities have urged residents to take necessary precautions during the rains, such as carrying umbrellas, wearing appropriate footwear, and avoiding areas prone to waterlogging.

Overall, the light rain and pleasant weather have brought a much-needed break from the heatwave that had gripped Delhi. The residents of the city are now looking forward to more showers in the coming days, hoping for a more comfortable and enjoyable summer season.
