IMRAN KHAN'S ARREST : UN OFFICIAL STRESSES NEED TO ENSURE POLITICAL FIGURES IN PAK AREA TREATED FAIRLY

A top UN official asked to ensure proper methods of interrogation and investigation after former Pakistan's PM's arrest

On Tuesday former PM of Pakistan Imran Khan was arrested in an Al-Qadir trust case by paramilitary Rangers from outside the Islamabad High Court.


     A top UN official on Tuesday emphasized the necessity to secure all political leaders in Pakistan are dealt properly and that due actions are followed, hours after former prime minister Imran Khan was arrested from a court site in a graft case.


   Farhan Haq, Deputy Spokesperson for UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres commented " Regarding that, you are aware of our concerns of making sure that all of the political figures in Pakistan are treated fairly and of course that due process is followed. So we will monitor this process as it goes on to make sure that our concerns are being addressed".


    Haq was responding to a question on Khan's arrest and the ensuing protests that have engulfed the country.


    Protests are going all over city due to Khan's arrest and protesters are using violent methods to show their discontent by burning police vehicles and damaging public properties.
