LG INAUGURATES Rs 61 CRORE PROJECTS IN PULWAMA; INSTRUCTS OFFICERS TO ENSURE THAT PEOPLE DO NOT FACE ISSUES DURING WINTER

On Thursday, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha visited the Pulwama district in south Kashmir on Thursday and laid the foundation for a number of infrastructural projects totaling Rs 61 crores.


According to a statement released today by an official spokeswoman, the LG emphasised the growth of infrastructure, industry, agriculture, expanding mobility, a saturation of social welfare programmes, and improving the ease of living while presiding over the District Development Review meeting.


He gave the district administration the task of creating a thorough district-level plan for youth self-employment, tourism development, and cultural promotion.


The LG stated that landless farmers who are completely dependent on livestock should receive financial support through the Kisan Credit Card programme after reviewing the scheme's saturation.


He gave the Departments of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Sheep Husbandry instructions to make sure that all of the district's livestock is insured.


The LG also gave the district administration instructions to make sure that the Back to Village Jan Abhiyan helped young people seeking self-employment.


“Re-orient the planning and monitor the implementation to achieve the goal of full employment in the district,” he said. “The government schemes envisage loans to the poor without any guarantee. Financial inclusion is the key enabler and it is the bank’s prime responsibility to improve access of the poor to banks and help alleviate poverty. Banks or concerned officers violating the norms will be penalised.”


The LG examined the topic teachers' pool system for effective coordination and teacher availability.


He directed the prompt renovation of schools as well as the efficient operation of Atal Tinkering Labs and vocational training.


The LG instructed the concerned officers to take the necessary steps to facilitate the establishment of industrial units in the district, as well as to ensure that change of land use applications were processed timely and that the general public received convenient, hassle-free services from government agencies.


He gave instructions on how to accomplish the Har Ghar Nal Se Jal goal.


The LG received a review of the district's power infrastructure, including information on the preparations being made for the upcoming winter season, distribution transformer damage and repairs, buffer stock arrangements, peak demand and supply, and plans for replacing damaged transformers within specified timeframes of 12 hours in urban areas and 24 to 48 hours in rural areas.


During the winter, they shouldn't experience any issues. Make sufficient preparations to ensure a continuous supply of water, power, and necessities, the LG instructed the officers.


Additionally, he demanded a report on the district administration's use of land taken from Kahcharai.


The multipurpose cinema theatre was highly valued by the local public, and a sizable population was taking use of its benefits, it was reported to the meeting.


The LG commended Pulwama's district government and residents for earning the top spot on the District Good Governance Index.


Baseer-ul-Haq Chaudhary, the deputy commissioner for Pulwama, delivered a thorough presentation on the district's overall development situation.


Additionally, he provided information to the group on the district's rising literacy rate, Nasha Mukt Bharat awareness campaigns, special needs programmes, self-employment and livelihood generation initiatives, Amrit Sarovar construction, and the distribution of water-resistant tents to the tribal populace.


Later, the LG also spoke with a group of DDC members, a municipal council, a BDCs delegation led by Syed Bari Andrabi, chairman of the District Development Council of Pulwama, PRIs members, and a number of other delegations, including those representing youth, the sports community, industries and traders associations, saffron growers, and members of the NRLM. He assured them that their legitimate complaints and demands would be appropriately addressed.


The LG dedicated several projects, including a 200-bed COVID CARE Hospital at Pulwama that cost Rs. 8.67 crore, a Synthetic Hockey Turf at BHSS Pulwama that cost Rs. 4.90 crore, interior roads at District Police Lines that cost Rs. 89.61 lakh to build and upgrade for national events, and a Mini Secretariat that cost Rs. 11.94 crore to widen and upgrade.


Construction of the road from Narwah to Koil costing Rs 1.80 crore, two taxi stands at Pulwama with passenger sheds costing Rs 67.71 lakh, an eight-roomed three-story building at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Noorpora costing Rs 1.34 crore, and the Community Hall at Awantipora costing Rs 2 crore.


The LG set the foundations for a number of projects, including the construction of a 10-room, two-story building at GHSS Karimabad, which cost Rs 2.32 crore, the rebuilding of a gutted 10-room building at GHS Kakpora, which cost Rs 2.27 crore, a six-room, two-story structure at Saimoh, GHS Zantrag, and GHSS Panzgam, which cost Rs 1.41 crore each, and the development of pre-primary blocks at Lajurah, as well as GHSS playground worth Rs 65 lakh each.
