Lt Gen Subramanian appointed as Force Commander of UNMISS

Newly appointed Lt, Gen, Subramanian’s had an illustrious career in Indian defence sector. He had served in Indian army for 36. Recently he was posted as the General Officer Commanding. He had also served as India’s defence attache to Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos

UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has appointed Indian Army’s Lieutenant General Mohan Subramanian as new Force Commander of the United Nations Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS).


Lt. Gen Subramanian was preceded by Indian Army’s Lt, Gen Shailesh Tinaikar as the force commander of UNMISS. While releasing Lt. Gen Tinakaikar from his services, the UN issued a statement on Tuesday, saying "to whom the Secretary-General is grateful for his tireless dedication, invaluable service and effective leadership as UNMISS Force Commander.” Tinaikar was roped in as UNMISS commander in May 2019
