Saif Ali Khan attack: Accused arrested by Mumbai Police

The main accused in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case has finally been arrested on Friday, according to reports. The intruder reportedly stabbed Saif six times, one near to the spinal cord in the wee hours of Thursday at his Bandra residence.

This comes after a massive manhunt with 20 teams deployed across Mumbai & surrounding areas. As per the latest update, he is being taken to Bandra police station for further questioning.

The attacker used the fire escape staircase to enter Saif Ali Khan’s 11th floor apartment on January 16. Investigations revealed the accused was spotted near Bandra Railway Station after the attack. Police believe it was a robbery attempt where the intruder asked for 1 crore from Saif’s family.

The incident happened around 2:30 am when the intruder entered the apartment and confronted the actor’s house help. When Saif intervened to save his family and staff the situation turned violent & Saif got stabbed multiple times including a serious injury to his thoracic spinal cord.

Saif was rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai where he underwent emergency surgery to remove a 2.5 inch knife from his spine and repair the spinal fluid leak. Doctors have confirmed that Saif is out of danger but he is still under observation in the ICU. The housemaid who also got injured on her wrists and hands while trying to defend herself is also recovering.

After the attack police registered an FIR at Bandra Police Station and formed 20 teams to catch the accused. Investigators believe the accused boarded a local train towards Vasai Virar after escaping from the scene. DCP Dixit Gedam of Zone 9 said the accused entered the building through the fire escape staircase and it was a “robbery attempt”.

About Saif Ali Khan’s recovery doctors said he is stable. His family and medical team is planning to shift him out of ICU today.

Meanwhile Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif’s wife posted on Instagram about the emotional state of the family. She requested the media and paparazzi to not disturb them during this time.

Kareena wrote, "It has been an incredibly challenging day for our family, and we are still trying to process the events that have unfolded. As we navigate this difficult time, I respectfully and humbly request that the media and paparazzi refrain from the relentless speculation and coverage."
