SINGAPORE ENVOY SIMON UPSET OVER LOSS OF LIVES in GUJARAT'S BRIDGE COLLAPSE

Simon Wong, Singapore's High Commissioner to India, expressed his condolences on Monday for the deaths caused by the collapse of a cable bridge in Morbi, Gujarat.


“Deeply saddened by the loss of many lives due to the collapse of the cable bridge in Morbi, Gujarat. Our thoughts and deepest condolences to the family and friends of the deceased and the injured. Our hearts are with the people of Gujarat,” tweeted Singapore High Commissioner.


According to the most recent figures, 132 people had died as a result of the accident as of Monday morning. According to Harsh Sanghavi, the home minister for Gujarat, a criminal case has been filed in connection with the occurrence.


A powerful committee has been formed to look into the incident involving the suspension bridge collapse in Gujarat's Morbi district, according to an announcement from the Gujarat government.


“An investigation has begun today under the leadership of Range IGP,” Sanghavi said. Everyone worked all through the night. The Navy, NDRF (National Disaster Relief Force), Air Force and Army arrived at the spot quickly. More than 200 persons have worked the entire night for search and rescue operations,” Sanghavi said.


According to officials, teams from the Army, Navy, Air Force, NDRF, and Fire Brigade carried out a search operation all night to find persons who had fallen into the Macchu river when the bridge collapsed.


Following the incident, at midnight, the Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, Minister Brijeshbhai Merja, Minister of State Shri Arvindbhai Raiyani, Minister of State for Home Affairs Harshbhai Sanghvi, and Minister of State Shri Arvindbhai Raiyani arrived at the scene and personally oversaw the rescue effort while providing directions.


Teams from the Indian Army deployed in Morbi, Gujarat, conducted rescue and search efforts for accident survivors. Teams for search operations have been sent out by all three defence agencies. According to officials from the Defense Ministry, three Indian Coast Guard teams that include divers, equipment, boats, and other materials have been deployed in Morbi since last night.
