TALKS BETWEEN JAISHANKAR AND HIS RUSSIAN COUNTERPART LAVROV TO TAKE PLACE IN MOSCOW TODAY

S. Jaishankar, the minister of external affairs, landed in Moscow to begin a two-day trip around Russia. Dr. Jaishankar will speak with Sergey Lavrov, the foreign minister of Russia, during the visit. The two presidents' discussions are anticipated to touch on a range of bilateral issues as well as numerous regional and global trends.


According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Dr. Jaishankar and Mr. Lavrov will compare notes on the calendar of upcoming meetings and talk about how to advance cooperation work in important areas. The talks, according to the statement, will be centred on business and investments, logistics and transportation, the use of national currencies in settlements, and attractive energy projects, particularly in the Russian Far East and Arctic shelf. According to the statement, there will be an assessment-exchange session on current global challenges, with a focus on dialogue among the UN, SCO, G20, and RIC (Russia, India, China).


The formation of a security architecture in the Asia-Pacific region, the situation surrounding the Iranian nuclear problem, the state of affairs in Afghanistan, Syria, and Ukraine, as well as other regional issues will also be covered by the two ministers, according to the Russian foreign ministry. They will also talk about India's SCO presidency, efforts to combat terrorism, and a number of other regional issues.
