Rallying public support for BJP mayoral candidate Saurabh Thapliyal and other councillor candidates, Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami participated in the Raipur Vidhan Sabha Sammelan in Dalanwala, Dehradun on Friday.
Dhami addressed the crowd and confidently said that the party's strong backing will help it set a new record in the upcoming civic elections on January 23.
The unprecedented support from the senior citizens, women and the youth has been very cheering and this momentum can lead to a landslide victory in favour of the BJP candidates, the Chief Minister said.
Thapliyal called on the citizens to cast their votes in large numbers to bring a "triple engine government" under the centre, state and the municipal level to secure comprehensive development of the hill state.
Dhami recalled the last mayoral poll when BJP witnessed a win by 18,000 votes and predicted the margin this year would double. "The enthusiasm of the people, even in this winter, assures me of BJP's overwhelming victory," he said.
Under BJP governance, Uttarakhand has strung up its top spot in terms of Sustainable Development Goals done as per the NITI Aayog and the lowest unemployment level in years, Dhami noted. He also pitched the successful passage of the Uniform Civil Code, a 2022 election promise, that he said will be implemented soon.
Referring to the upcoming milestones such as hosting the 38th National Games in Raipur Assembly constituency, he spoke about Uttarakhand’s speedy progress in areas of health and education. Another step forward in the state's development, he also announced that Prime Minister Narendra Modi would inaugurate the games.
