Kulgam, July 5:

Senior BJP leader Aabid Hussain Khan on Friday launched a scathing attack on the National Conference (NC), particularly targeting Omar Abdullah's leadership, accusing the party of indulging in "photo-shoot politics" and running a “transfer-based sarkaar” that failed to address the genuine issues of the people of Jammu & Kashmir.

Speaking at a gathering with the Aaya Association at his residence, Khan lambasted the previous NC-led administration for ignoring the welfare of widows, orphans, and economically weaker sections. “The NC government never provided basic financial assistance to those in need. It was BJP’s people-first policy that ensured a ₹5,000 assistance package reaches affected families,” he said.

Khan highlighted the discriminatory practices of former regimes, such as arbitrary seven-day job termination rules and systemic exclusion of divorced women and orphans from welfare schemes. “Such regressive measures were an affront to human dignity. The BJP has worked to dismantle this injustice and build a more inclusive system,” he asserted.

Underscoring BJP’s development-focused agenda, Khan pointed to the recent sanction of ₹6.5 crore for the development of the revered Waltangoo Kund Ziyarat. “This project is not a gift from the NC’s sycophancy or showmanship. It is the result of BJP’s consistent governance and tireless follow-up,” he said.

He also criticized the local MLA from Devsar for attempting to claim credit for the Waltangoo project. “The project was sanctioned by the tourism department due to BJP’s efforts, but the MLA went there just to pose for photographs. The people can see through this drama,” Khan remarked.

The BJP leader further disclosed that he had recently raised the issue of pending material payments for MGNREGA vendors with central officials in Delhi, receiving assurances that the dues will be cleared soon.

Issuing a stern warning, Khan pledged to lead a protest if justice is not delivered to the members of the Aaya Association. “If their voices are ignored, we will start an agitation from Kulgam, and I will personally be on the frontlines,” he declared.

Reiterating BJP’s principles, Khan concluded, “We don’t believe in hollow slogans or photo-ops. We believe in real development, transparency, and standing up for the last person in the queue.”
