Today, a cable bridge fell in Morbi, Gujarat, killing thirty persons and injuring countless others. Around 100 individuals are still stranded in the sea after the bridge collapsed with 500 people on it.

While in Gujarat today, Prime Minister Narendra Modi issued an urgent order for rescue attempts, and many locals assisted in saving the injured.

Bhupendra Patel, the chief minister of Gujarat, was also contacted by the prime minister, who instructed him to assess the situation. Harsh Sanghavi, the home minister for Gujarat, headed for Morbi as soon as word of the incident broke.

The bridge looks to have split into two parts, but more information is anticipated.

The Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) has announced a compensation of Rs 2 lakh for each family of a person who perished in the accident and Rs 50,000 for each individual injured. Each family of a deceased person will receive compensation from the state government in the amount of 4 lakh, and each injured person will receive 50,000.

LMorbi cable bridge is a historic bridge constructed many years ago. It was only recently, on October 26, in time for the Gujarati New Year, after repairs and renovations.

According to reports, the government gave the Oreva Group, owned by Odhavji Patel, the contract for the renovation work.
