Sher Comes to Campaign: Engineer Rashid Eyes Political Comeback

Engineer Rashid, known for his bold rhetoric and defiance of political norms, has become a familiar figure in Jammu and Kashmir’s political landscape. Campaigning for the upcoming assembly elections, he presents himself as the people’s “Sher” (lion), a symbol of resilience against both traditional politics and outside influences.

Riding in a Mahindra Scorpio, flanked by security personnel, Rashid moves through towns and villages where people eagerly await his arrival. His charisma and ability to connect with the masses have earned him the title of "Sher" among his supporters, who chant “Aya Sher Aya” as he steps out of his vehicle.

In a region fraught with tensions, Rashid’s campaign is not without challenges. His confrontational style has made him enemies in both state and national political circles. Yet, his bold speeches resonate with a segment of the population frustrated by the status quo. He often attacks established political parties, accusing them of abandoning the interests of the Kashmiri people. Rashid doesn’t shy away from criticizing the national leadership, claiming they have failed to address the core issues facing the region, including unemployment, political autonomy, and security.

But his critics argue that Rashid’s rhetoric is more style than substance. They accuse him of exploiting public emotions without offering concrete solutions to Jammu and Kashmir’s long-standing problems. His polarizing speeches, they say, stir up sentiment but do little to bridge the growing divide between different communities in the region.

Despite the criticisms, Rashid remains undeterred, using every opportunity to amplify his message of change. His campaign reflects his vision of empowering local voices and resisting external control. As the elections draw closer, it remains to be seen whether the “Sher” of Kashmir can roar loud enough to claim a significant place in Jammu and Kashmir’s political future. For now, Engineer Rashid is a force to be reckoned with—one that refuses to be silenced.
