US President-elect Donald Trump is going to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin. But the date is yet to set.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Putin is open to high level talks “If [Trump’s] political will to resume high-level contacts after he takes office persists, President Putin will only welcome this,” he said.
Peskov added that Putin has always been ready for dialogue and that such contacts are important. Trump has said talks with Putin could happen in the first 6 months of his presidency but Peskov said no formal requests for contact have been received from the US side yet.
In December Putin said at his annual press conference he would talk to Trump to find compromises on Ukraine. Asked about a meeting Putin was quoted by Al Jazeera as saying: "I don’t know when I’m going to see him. He isn’t saying anything about it. I haven’t talked to him in more than four years. I am ready for it, of course. Any time.
