9 Injured as Vehicle Plunges into Gorge in J&K's Poonch

A Poonch, Jammu and Kashmir, a fatal accident occurred when a vehicle slipped into a deep gorge and nine individuals got injured. Seven women and two men were among the accident and were admitted to a local hospital for treatment. The accident is an eye-opener to the profession of driving through the hilly region and jeopardizing road safety.

No information about the reason behind the accident is disclosed, though the reasons are generally a combination of factors like bad road conditions, careless drivers, or machinery breakdowns. The Poonch district is situated in hilly terrain and therefore the road journey is risky, especially when the weather is unfavorable.

Regional authorities have been making investments in road network rehabilitation and strengthening emergency response networks within the region. 

Such an incident, however, only serves to highlight the necessity of continued investment and emphasis placed on safety features to protect passengers.

Five more were killed in a similar accident from the same district when a car went into a gorge, which points towards the danger with the landscape of the region. 

There have been calls for other safety measures and infrastructural development to ensure that such accidents do not happen again.
