A Bengaluru resident’s viral hospital-bed video has reignited debate over the city’s deteriorating roads, after a serious two-wheeler accident left him with multiple fractures and a medical bill of ₹6 lakh.
Saurabh Pandey, the injured rider, alleged that his accident occurred because of an unmarked and uneven speed breaker on a city road. In the video posted by his friend, Khyati Shree, Pandey visibly in pain blames the condition of Bengaluru roads for his injuries. His hand, arm, and leg are fractured, forcing him into a long recovery period. Doctors reportedly informed the family that he may remain immobile for nearly six months.
“If you can’t fix the roads, then please ban two-wheelers in Bangalore,” the caption of the now-viral post reads. Pandey can be heard saying, “Tum apne road ke liye kuch karo. It is high time,” urging authorities to take accountability.
The post also criticises the common expectation that citizens ensure their own safety through helmets, while authorities fail to paint speed breakers or repair potholes. The caption questions, “Why is a helmet mandatory, but an unmarked speed breaker acceptable?”
The video has gathered over 3 lakh views since November 26, sparking anger and frustration online. Many users expressed that driving in Bengaluru now requires avoiding potholes, bumps, and unpredictable road layouts often at the cost of safety. One comment read: “If you can drive in Bangalore, you can drive anywhere in the world.”
Recently, another Bengaluru resident went viral after claiming a single pothole caused ₹23,000 worth of damage to his car just days after servicing it.
As the video continues circulating, users are demanding accountability and long-term action not apologies on Bengaluru’s persistent road safety crisis.
