In Kokernag, South Kashmir, the body of one of the two soldiers who went missing during a search and rescue operation has been recovered. The recovery took place on the third day of the operation, conducted in the challenging terrain of dense forests and hilly areas. The two soldiers had lost contact during the operation on Monday night due to severe snowfall and harsh winter conditions, raising serious concerns for the army and rescue teams over their whereabouts.

The deceased soldier was found near the Gadole forest area of Kokernag. Officials from the rescue team reported that the soldier was recovered with his backpack and weapon. Preliminary assessment suggests that extreme cold and snowy conditions (hypothermia) may have contributed to his death. This incident underscores the difficulties and risks involved in conducting operations in the remote and high-altitude areas of South Kashmir.

Search efforts for the other missing soldier are still ongoing. Experts note that adverse weather, dense forests, and rugged mountainous terrain make the rescue mission extremely complex. Helicopters, drones, and other surveillance technologies are being used to track the soldiers’ positions, though access to remote areas remains limited.

The army and rescue teams have stated that they are continuously working and making every effort to safely locate the missing soldier. The incident highlights the extreme challenges faced by armed forces while operating in South Kashmir’s difficult terrains and emphasizes the courage and perseverance required for such missions.

Local authorities and security forces are also making efforts to keep the families informed and ensure the safety of other personnel. Rescue teams have assured that all possible measures are being taken and that they are committed to locating the remaining missing soldier as quickly as possible.

This event reflects the operational difficulties in the rugged regions of South Kashmir and showcases the bravery and dedication of security personnel. According to defense experts, patience, caution, and the use of advanced technology are crucial in ensuring the safe recovery of soldiers in such extreme conditions.
