The body of a nomadic man, who was among three missing nomads since last month, was recovered from the Veshow Nallah in the Mah area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday morning, officials said.

The deceased has been identified as Riyaz Ahmad Bajad (25), a resident of Chandian Pajan in Devsar. He was one of the three nomads who had gone missing on February 13, 2025, prompting their families to lodge a missing report at Qazigund Police Station.

According to locals, the body was spotted early this morning near Veshow Nallah, following which the police were informed. Authorities reached the spot and shifted the body to a hospital for necessary legal and medical formalities, including an autopsy to determine the cause of death.

Meanwhile, police have launched an investigation to ascertain the circumstances leading to Bajad’s death.

Notably, three nomadic laborers, including two brothers, had gone missing from the Qazigund area of Kulgam district a month ago. The discovery of Bajad’s body has deepened concerns regarding the fate of the other two missing individuals.

Further investigations are underway.
