JAMMU, 9 April 2025

A heated argument broke out in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly after AAP MLA Mehraj Malik made remarks about Hindus, leading to several MLAs being marshalled out. BJP MLAs protested Malik’s alleged comment that Hindus wear a ‘tilak’ but commit sins. BJP MLA Vikram Randhawa condemned the remarks, saying they insulted Hindus.

Malik also clashed with PDP MLA Waheed Parra, accusing him of inviting the mafia. Speaking to the media, Malik claimed BJP workers assaulted him.

AIP MLA Salman Khursheed accused the NC-led government of disrupting proceedings to delay the session and demanded an extension. He also questioned Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s absence for three days.

This marked the third day of disruption in the House. Previous days saw protests over the Waqf Amendment Act, which was not listed for discussion due to it being in court. PDP MLA Parra was marshalled out for attempting to present documents, and PC Chief Sajjad Lone also got into an argument with NC MLAs seeking debate on the matter.
