Dr. Andrabi Supports Ban on Separatist Outfits in J&K

Dr. Andrabi emphasized that the peace experienced by the citizens of J&K in recent years is largely due to a significant drop in militancy. She appealed for tightening measures against any such group which may attempt to disrupt this harmony, stating, "We want a ban on all such organizations so that people here can live peacefully."

While the JKIM and AAC were given a five-year ban by the Union Home Ministry under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) for inciting separatism and supporting terrorism, Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the government remained zero-tolerant to organizations threatening national unity and that any such group indulging in activities against India would face strict actions.

Dr. Andrabi's support for the ban is a representation of rising local support for the crackdown on separatism and bringing lasting peace in Jammu and Kashmir.
