Forest Fire Breaks Out in Compartment Number 34-B, Veshew Range Block, Manzgam, Kulgam District

A forest ground fire erupted in Compartment Number 34-B of the Veshew Range Block, situated in the Manzgam area of Kulgam district, yesterday evening. The fire has raised considerable concern among local authorities and residents as it quickly spread across a large area, posing a serious threat to the delicate ecosystem of the region.

The Forest Department, along with local fire-fighting teams, has been working around the clock to control the fire. As per the latest reports, approximately 70% of the blaze has been successfully extinguished, though efforts to fully contain the fire are still ongoing.

Ghulam Mohd Khan, Range Officer of Veshow, spoke to the media and expressed optimism about the situation, saying, "We have managed to douse 70% of the fire so far, and we are confident we will bring the situation under control within the next few hours."

Authorities are closely monitoring the progress and have taken all necessary measures to prevent the fire from spreading further. Local residents have been urged to stay alert while the fire-fighting teams continue their efforts to safeguard the surrounding environment.
