The Embassy of India in Doha has issued a safety advisory for Indian nationals living in Qatar amid escalating tensions linked to the ongoing conflict involving Iran in the Middle East.
In its latest advisory, the embassy urged all Indian citizens in Qatar to remain cautious and strictly follow safety instructions issued by local authorities. The mission advised people to stay indoors as much as possible and avoid unnecessary movement outside their homes. Indians were also asked to stay away from windows, balconies, and exposed areas as a precautionary measure.
The advisory comes as regional tensions have increased following recent military developments involving Iran and its rivals, raising security concerns across several Gulf countries. Although Qatar has not been directly involved in the conflict, authorities are taking precautionary measures due to the possibility of regional spillover.
The Indian Embassy further asked citizens to rely only on official government sources for updates and avoid spreading unverified information or sharing images and videos related to security incidents. Officials warned that gathering at accident sites or circulating sensitive visuals could obstruct emergency response efforts and may even lead to legal consequences under local laws.
To assist Indian nationals during the ongoing situation, the embassy has activated additional emergency support services. A 24-hour helpline has been made available for those requiring urgent assistance, while the embassy continues to coordinate closely with local authorities to monitor developments and ensure the safety of the Indian community.
Earlier, Indian missions across several Middle Eastern countries had also issued advisories urging citizens to remain vigilant as tensions in the region intensified. With a large Indian diaspora living and working in Qatar, the advisory aims to ensure that citizens remain alert and prepared in case the situation deteriorates.
Authorities have emphasised that there is no immediate cause for panic, but residents are encouraged to stay informed and follow official guidance. The Indian government said it is closely monitoring the situation and will issue further updates if required to ensure the safety of its nationals in the region.
