Indian Army jawan injured in firing along LoC in Jammu

An Indian Army soldier was injured in an exchange of fire along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu's Akhnoor sector on Friday.  A forward post in the Botal area was fired upon.   The soldier was reportedly injured by a sniper from across the border.

Officials confirmed that the soldier was injured in the line of duty.   He was airlifted to a nearby military hospital, where he is currently undergoing treatment.  However, the situation is said to be stable now.

This is exciting along the LoCT.  Here on February 11, two Indian soldiers, including a captain, were killed in an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) blast.   The intruders reportedly buried the explosives.   Additionally, on 12 February, Pakistani troops opened fire in the Poonch sector and drew heavy retaliation from the Indian side.

Regional security forces are on high alert.   The Indian Army has stepped up minor surveillance and strengthened defensive measures along the Line of Control to avoid further escalation of the issue.   Although a cease-fire agreement between India and Pakistan still exists, such incidents continue to result in clashes, preventing any peace in the region.

The security forces have assured that appropriate measures will be taken in future to respond to the current attacks.   The status of the investigation is being closely monitored, and senior military officials are currently assessing the security situation along the Line of Control.

The incident is still under investigation
