As the Katra-Srinagar train service is set to be launched, Jammu IGP Bhim Sen Tuti reviewed security arrangements in the key areas. For any train service to run smoothly, more arrangements have been made to put in place heightened security in Reasi, Ramban, and other sensitive areas.

In the course of inspection, IGP Tuti inspected the security position at railway stations, the Chenab Bridge, and other sensitive locations. He interacted with the security forces to review vigilances, deployment, and emergency arrangements. Special attention was paid to the security of the Chenab Railway Bridge, which is one of the tallest railway bridges in the world and has vital strategic importance.

This new rail service is expected to improve connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir, thereby making travel to the valley very easy, benefiting the tourism industry and local residents. Security agencies, however, remain highly vigilant given the perspectives of security concerns.

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the train service at the same time. This initiative is aimed at providing near-direct railway connectivity between the valley of Kashmir and other parts of India, which is expected to have a wonderfully positive effect on the socio-economic advancements in the region.
