Jammu Police have detained a 19-year-old youth who has emerged as a key suspect in a radicalisation case registered under FIR No. 331/2025 at Bahu Fort Police Station. The accused, originally from Reasi district and currently living in Bathindi, was taken into custody after police received credible intelligence suggesting online radicalisation and possible involvement in a planned terror-related activity.
According to officials, preliminary findings indicate that the youth had been actively consuming extremist content online and was allegedly preparing to carry out an unlawful act influenced by radical ideology. Investigators discovered that he had been in frequent mobile communication with several international numbers, including contacts traced to Pakistan and other foreign locations. These interactions have raised significant concern among security agencies regarding potential external influence and guidance behind his activities.
During the arrest operation, police recovered multiple digital devices from the suspect’s residence. These devices have been sent for detailed forensic examination to analyse communication logs, digital footprints, and any evidence pointing toward handlers or collaborators. Technical experts are also reviewing encrypted chats, browsing histories, and data-sharing patterns to establish whether he was part of a wider network.
Authorities are now questioning the youth extensively to map out the extent of his involvement and identify any possible associates who may have contributed to the suspected plot. Investigators are exploring whether he acted alone or if he had support from organised groups operating across the border.
Security officials emphasise that the case is being treated with utmost seriousness due to its potential implications for regional security. The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts to counter online radicalisation and monitor digital spaces where vulnerable young individuals may be targeted and influenced by extremist propaganda.
A comprehensive investigation is underway, and police are expected to make further assessments once the forensic reports and interrogation findings are finalised.
