A combined operation of the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Indian Army's Rising Star Corps was initiated in Hiranagar, Kathua, on March 23, 2025, to hunt down terrorists based on specific intelligence inputs. The operation was initiated late at night based on intelligence inputs regarding suspected terrorists seen in the area.

Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) have also been used to assist in the ongoing cordon and searches in the Saniyal locality of Hiranagar.

The technology will increase surveillance and track movement in the area as security personnel carry out intensive searches. The operation follows a recent firing incident observed during searches, which showed increased tensions in the area.

The authorities have assured that reinforcements were sent to aid the operation, which is a sign of the heightened alertness of security forces following repeated attempts of infiltration by terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir.

The state has recently seen a string of encounters and operations to eliminate terrorist activities, including recent ones in detecting terrorist hideouts and detaining weapons.

As events progress, security officials are still on the alert, continuing their efforts to supply security and stability to the region as they vigorously follow up with leads from the suspected terrorists.

Developments continue to be expected as operations are ongoing.
