Kulgam, October 18:Continuing its sustained efforts to bring offenders to justice, Kulgam Police have arrested two wanted absconders among whom one had been evading arrest for the past 26 years.
The arrested individuals have been identified as Mohd Ismail Bhat, son of Mohd Ramzan Bhat, resident of Alamgunj, Shopian and Showkat Ahmad Dar son of Mohd Yaqoob Dar resident of Khanaywapora Qaimoh. Mohd Ismail Dar was wanted in connection with FIR No. 48/1984 registered under sections 148, 149, 323, and 452 of the Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) and Showkat Ahmad Dar was wanted in connection of case FIR No 183/2016 U/S 151, 153 RPC, 7/25 A act at Police Station Kulgam.
A warrant under sections 299/512 CrPC, issued by the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Kulgam, had been pending against the accused persons. Acting on credible inputs, a special police team from Police Station Kulgam successfully traced and arrested the absconders. They were subsequently produced before the Hon’ble Court of Law for further legal proceedings.
While commending the police team for their meticulous efforts, SSP Kulgam Shri Anayat Ali (IPS) said,
“Kulgam Police is committed to ensuring that no offender, no matter how long he evades the law, escapes justice. Our consistent focus remains on upholding the rule of law and maintaining public confidence in the justice system.”
Police have reiterated their resolve to continue the crackdown on all absconders and proclaimed offenders in the district to strengthen the security and legal framework.
